The last 14 years as a senior manager in both strategic and operational management responsible for employer responsiveness and business relations. Experience in setting up WFD units within the education sector and giving advice to those already in place. Working with QIA on the Train to Gain development programme to assist providers in measuring their employer responsiveness in preparation for Training Quality Standard. Also working on Quality Framework and Cycle for South London Business in order to move forward not only their Train to Gain contract but also to set them up as a responsive organisation and as an awarding body in their own right. Sylvia’s formative career was as a mental health professional in the Northwest, where she worked with adolescents and adults with mental health problems. Sylvia progressed quickly into management running service provision for Manchester and Salford Social Services. In 1991 she became Chief Executive of Manchester Care Ltd., a not-for-profit company, employing approx 700 staff and providing residential and other social care services to over 1000 older people. In her 7 years leading Manchester Care, Sylvia introduced a company-wide training and development strategy including an NVQ training scheme for care staff in 18 homes and helped the organisation achieve the prestigious Investor in People (IIP) standard. She was subsequently invited to act as a member of Manchester Training and Enterprise Council’s Accreditation Panel, determining the outcome of applications from organisations wishing to achieve the IIP standard. In 1999 Sylvia became a full-time Inspector with The Training Standards Council, which later became ALI and now Ofsted. Sylvia remains a current additional inspector with Ofsted. In 2002, Sylvia became a full-time consultant. She works with training provider companies and with national employer providers in a range of activities. These include • work on Leadership and Management aspects, including equality of opportunity and quality assurance • work on self-assessment and action planning • helping companies prepare for inspection • helping companies respond to the findings of inspection • helping companies develop and implement quality systems • helping companies draw up self-assessment reports and development action plans She also runs workshops on Equality and Diversity, Quality Systems and Improving Key Learning Processes. As a AML Consultant, Sylvia has co-presented workshops on Preparing for Inspection with Anne Ashworth, has been involved in quality assessment of employer providers, programme and lesson design for a national provider and in Equality and Diversity improvements.
Wendy’s background is in the land based sector, specifically in the equine specialism. Beginning her career in college provision, she has a vast knowledge of HE and FE provision as a lecturer, college departmental manager and awarding body call off contractor. She is a fellow member of the IfL and an approved ILM trainer to level 6.
Wendy and Anne have undertaken a number of commercial and funded projects together. Wendy works as an approved NES call off consultant listed under the AML company name and has designed quality training materials and courses for commercial clients which have exceeded their expectations.
Now a life member and training to become a Master Coach through the well renowned Coaching Academy, Wendy is able to offer corporate and executive, personal performance and small business coaching solutions to clients under her own company Brook Lane Consultancy. This is a particularly exciting way of resolving challenges facing clients because it capitalises on the existing resources within the company to shape tailored outcomes that are sustainable long after the coaching has taken place.
Managing Director of a highly successful training provider based in Birmingham. The company has achieved Beacon status in 2008, been awarded Grade 1’s (Outstanding Provider) by Ofsted in November 2006. Achieved Matrix Accreditation in August 2008 and achieved Training Quality Standard Full accreditation in November 2008. The company also supports a charity and has raided £65,000 for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in the last 7 years.
The company has also gained the Midlands Excellence EFQM Small Company Award in 2002 and was a prize winner in 2006 and again in 2007 and is a finalist for 2008.
Sue has worked with ANTERIOR Management Limited for several years and uses her EFQM expertise when working in the work-based environment to support small, medium and large companies in improving their businesses.
